Syria as a place to work
Hi,
I have got a job offer in Syria in a telecom Company. Just wanted to enquire about the safety measures there. Is it a safe place to work. How is that place in terms of tradition and living standard.
Pls provide me any references where I can find these information.

I have been trying to study Arabic in Australia but it is hard to find teachers where I live. Are there any short intensive courses (about 4 weeks), preferably in April or October? Is it possible to stay with Arabic speakers (eg a host family)? I am a middle aged female with work and family responsibilities, otherwise I would like to stay for longer. I was in Syria earlier this year and loved it.

You mean short courses in Syria?

I don't know, but would also be interested to know if such a course exists.  Am planning a visit to Syria for 2 months in October 2007.

Yes, I am looking for short courses in Syria. I understand that most of the courses are held in Damascus, but there may be some options in Haleb (Aleppo)?

Hello there, it's really nice to hear someone is trying their best to learn Arabic. There are many places in Syria where foreigners can learn Arabic. Damscus is among the most famous cities that has schools and universities where they teach Arabic, “ Al Nour” is the best school i have heard of in Damascus where many have learned Arabic. The lenght of the courses is your decission. If you request to stay with a host family, then you will find many families in Syria that would love to have you as their guest. I am a 17 yr old student, originally from Tartus, a city on the Syrian shore. I only go to Syria in summers as i was born and raised in Holland. If you need anything, feel free to contact me, it'll be my pleasure to reply
