The Currency used in Syria is the Syrian Pound or Lira, sometimes abbreviated to SP or LS (Livre Syrien), but more often shown as SŁ.

Obtaining Syrian Currency before you enter the country is difficult, but not impossible.  Major travel agents should be able to sell you Syrian Pounds, as long as you give them sufficient notice.  Once on arrival, foreign currencies can be exchanged at the a Syrian BankUS Dollars and many major European currencies can be exchanged at banks in Syria.
